Western University held its first Anishinaabe Law Camp over four days from March 23-26, 2017. Michael coordinated the event, which was generously hosted by the Chippewas of the Thames First Nation. There on the territory of Deshkan Ziibing, students and faculty from the Faculty of Law and other departments at the university as well as First Nation leaders and community members, learned Anishinaabe law and legal tradition by on-site reference to treaties, cases, stories, water, rocks, plants, and animals. The program teachings were delivered by Professor John Borrows (Kekedonce), lawyer and researcher Lindsay Borrows and Professor Heidi Stark.
